You know it's summer in Montana if..

You think it's a good idea take two 21 month-old toddlers into the wilderness to sleep outside, play with fire, and hike near a raging waterfall.

Despite liberal application of sunscreen, you somehow ended up with a spectacular farmer's tan.

You watch quietly while said toddlers eat marshmallows covered in pine needles and mud.

You consider a humming throng of starving mosquitoes a minor inconvenience to your fishing regimen.

You've ever slit your thumb open on a pike's teeth because you forgot your "jaw spreader" in the car.

You compliment the FWP staff on the cleanliness of the outhouse.

You know what FWP stands for.

Got anymore anyone?

Other People say Howdy, not just you.

A Mountain is more than 990 feet (prominence-wise)

It is dry enough that your books stay strong

You don't pay sales tax

No one uses the term Chiggers for bugs

You don't have to buy a new wardrobe for the rainy season

No lightning bugs

Stellas, McCormicks, MacKenzie River, Cafe Italia, CJ's

Aubyn had a few in mind :)
It is super hot and sunny when you can't/don't want to be outside and it rains when you want to be out.

The gummy worms in your console melt into one gooey, yet still delicious, molten heap.

Families go for outtings to Wal-Mart on their 4 wheelers

p.s. I'd like to see a jaw spreader...

Your legs are perpetually covered in a mist of bug spray and that fine dirt that puffs with every step when at a campsite.

You can see the Milky Way.

You need shorts, a swimsuit, and a warm coat in the same day.

You compare and brag about Chaco tans

Hippies, bikers, doctors, and rednecks can all mingle at an outdoor concert

Your neighbor starts parking in his yard under the tree to avoid hail

You fall asleep sweating and wake up with a frozen nose

You ride your bike daily to the nearest coffee shop and proceed to sit/read/play there for the better half of your day.

You live off of strawberries and zuchinni.

You've hiked mystic at least four times.

Most evenings are spent at Softies.

You're one Happy Son of a Gun.

See you soon, sis!

Awesome work, everyone! Grammie Perrine, FWP stands for Fish Wildlife and Parks - the department in charge of campgrounds. :)
