Eight Months

Hamilton is eight months old and in constant motion. He is an avid climber, as you can see in the picture above. He loves to climb over, under, and around the rungs of the chairs at the dining room table, he can swiftly climb onto the fireplace hearth, and he wedges himself into precarious places like under the baker's rack or between the coffee table and the couches. He is quite the problem solver and will drop toys into tricky places and spend several minutes figuring out how to retrieve them. Hamilton is wonderfully independent and seems content to entertain himself for good chunks of time, which is nice for me. It's also another reason I'm glad he goes to daycare so he can get in some social time with peers (which he also enjoys)! When I plopped him on the scale at home, he was at 20 pounds! He's eating like a horse, and we are branching out into all sorts of funky purees (pea/spinach/pear, edamame/pears, zucchini, pumpkin/apples, etc.). He loves his finger foods too, although fruits are still pretty slippery for his fumbly fingers. I'm still making the majority of his food, and am really enjoying it and feeling savvy and a little crunchy. I'm not sure how long I can keep that up while in school though, but we had a good run!
We have been hanging out a lot with this little sweet heart (please note her onesie!), and are just loving having the Powells back in town. Cedar is all giggles and snorts, and Hamilton is enamored with her (although still shows that affection through excited slaps and hair pulling, unfortunately). Jenny will be in town TODAY, and the Schuyler Sisters couldn't be happier to be reunited!
At home, Hamilton is all energy and babbling and spitting and crawling. The minute we take him somewhere with a lot going on, he clams up and just observes. He loves to watch and take in everything around him. This often earns him the reputation of a "chill baby". Everyone is enthralled by how calm he is, just staring blankly at everyone trying to make him giggle. He really is relaxed, and I'm so glad we can take him to functions like Alive After Five (above) and know that he's going to just be cool.
My gorgeous cousin Kortney was married last weekend, and Hamilton was able to attend! With a constant stream of Puffs, he was pretty well-behaved. I remember pretty much nothing of the ceremony though, as all of my attention was focused on keeping him quiet. But we made it!
 Isn't his comb-over just delicious?
He loves seeing himself in the camera.
Holly was in town briefly and we were able to see her little family. She obliged us by taking out her camera and snapping a few stunning picture of my handsome man. Wow. Just wow.
 Happy Eight Months, Hamilton!
