History Repeats Itself

Well... for the third time in thirteen months, a drunk driver has considered Arrowhead a worthy place to land. The first one happened before the kids had arrived... about a week or two before school started. The second one actually missed the school and ended up in the batting cages just below the building, dangling from the nets like a spider in a web.

This latest crash occurred last night around 3 in the morning. Arrowhead is not exactly on the well beaten path, so it's a wonder how these people are finding us! My theory is that they are speeding down Poly, which is relatively free of traffic and traffic signals. They get to cruising at a fairly quick clip and don't notice when it suddenly ends - at Arrowhead. They miss the stop sign and go careening through the exit of the parking lot, hopping a few curbs and landing abruptly in the South wall, hitting the water line.

The last crash resulted in new carpet, a new gym floor, and God knows what else. The gym, the Library and several classrooms were flooded, but because school hadn't started, much of the teacher's personal belongings were spared. This year, they may not have been so lucky.

At any rate, there will be no school for students Monday or Tuesday (can you imagine hearing this news as a sixth grader?!? I bet they are dancing in their pajamas this Saturday morning!) until the building is deemed safe and the water main has been restored. Teachers will report to the school both days to help clean up.

Should be interesting! Praise God no one was in the building!

Yikes. I think these drivers are bitter arrowhead graduates. Or dropouts. Think about it..wouldn't YOU ram a car into Washington Elementary if you could?

Kayla, that's hilarious.
It is quite amazing how frequent this is becoming. Will they be building a moat or a fortress around the school now??
